Have a look

Yes — that’s my own drone footage.

I build small software and business systems in South Africa — NannyTank and Nodera — and I write down what actually happens while I do it, including the parts that didn’t work.

Before software it was video and post-production, which is where the habit of checking a frame twice comes from. Somewhere in between, I fly a drone.

More about me

The name

A cap, a page, and a place to learn in public.

The name started as a design idea before it became a personal one. Foolscap, as one word, is an old name for a writing-paper format — it goes back to the fool’s cap and bells: first the jester’s hat itself, then a watermark used by papermakers, and eventually the name of the paper.

But Fool’s Cap stayed with me for a more personal reason. I wear a cap almost every day. And the fool part felt honest too — not as an insult, but as a starting point. Every person begins as a fool at something.
